Hydraulic Fittings

These Hydraulic fittings which are  Single Ferrule Bite Type Fittings are the most widely used  fittings in the world. These Hydraulic fittings are flareless bite type metric fittings, Single ferrule type, that consists of a body, progressive ring (ferrule) and nut. On assembly, two cutting edges of the ferrule “bite” into the outer surface of the tube ensuring the necessary holding power for high operating pressures. These Hydraulic fittings  or Hydraulic Couplings are best suited for steel, copper or stainless steel tubes where brazing, soldering, welding, flaring or threading is not possible or permissible

These Hydraulic Fittings are generally manufactured as per  the relevant as per industry standards, the most prominent standard being the  DIN : 2353 standards.  When the fittings are desinged as per DIN 2353 standards the threads, dimensions and profile of the fitting body,  The Nut and the Ermeto Ferrules are such that  the bodies, Nuts and Ferrules of any brand or multiple brands can be interchanged. 

Hydraulic DIN 2353 single ferrule fittings, also known as compression fittings, are commonly used in hydraulic systems to create leak-tight connections between pipes, tubes, and hoses. These fittings consist of three main components: the body, the cutting ring (single ferrule), and the nut. Here’s how they work:

1. Body: The body of the fitting is typically made of metal and has a tapered internal surface. The end of the pipe or tube is inserted into this tapered surface.
2. Single Ferrule (Cutting Ring): The single ferrule is a small, tubular metal component with a cone-shaped inner surface. This ferrule is placed over the pipe or tube before insertion into the fitting body.
3. Nut: The nut is also made of metal and is threaded on the outside. It is used to secure the fitting and create the necessary compression force to make a tight seal.

Assembling of the Hydraulic fitting :

1. Assembly: To assemble the fitting, the single ferrule is first slid onto the pipe or tube, followed by the insertion of the tube into the fitting body. The end of the tube makes contact with the tapered surface inside the fitting body.
2. Compression: Next, the nut is threaded onto the fitting body, and as it tightens, it pushes the single ferrule forward. The tapered surface of the fitting body causes the single ferrule to compress around the tube evenly.
3. Bite and Seal: As the nut continues to tighten, the single ferrule “bites” into the outer surface of the tube, creating a strong mechanical grip. Simultaneously, it also forms a tight seal between the tube and the fitting body, preventing any fluid leakage.
4. Leak-tight Connection: The combination of mechanical grip and the metal-to-metal seal ensures a reliable and leak-tight connection, making it suitable for high-pressure hydraulic systems.
